NJ Special Olympics
About
This project hold a special place in my heart as it tackles a part of life that I am deeply rooted with. Growing up with a sister on the spectrum and parents who placed themselves in the volunteer boots of Autism Support Groups, I wasted no time Signing up to be a volunteer for the media team at the NJ Special Olympics

The Idea
The idea stemmed from a personal connection with the Blue Wave Swim Team of Long Beach Island. I contacted the media team coordinator of NJ Special Olympics and landed the opportunity to provide video coverage on the Special Olympics and its Ceremonies
The Goal
I wanted to capture first hand, the ability and the emotion of the young athletes that compete in these games. From tennis, to swimming, and even the whole opening ceremony itself. I compiled a collection of video from every sport that I had attended to showcase the amazing ability of these athletes and what it truly means to
"win... and be brave in the attempt"

The Torch Run
Being from a small town in Ocean County, NJ, community is super important to me, so before I hauled over to TCNJ for the ceremony, I had the privilege of attending my local torch run in Long Beach Island. I was tasked with recording and photographing the athletes and law enforecment on our leg of the Torch Run. (I had to do a little running myself)
The Result
The result was one of the most beautiful congregations of individuals I've ever seen. The sheer scale of the event was enough to make me want to do this project again, but to see all the different personalities and talents of all of the athletes, sparked the love and appreciation for what I do now. This ultimately culminated in the video I filmed and edited to showcase the allure of such an event and organization.
